Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Dental Laboratory Technician to join our team at Smiles of Canada. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and customizing a variety of dental prosthetics and appliances based on dental scans and impressions, and prescriptions provided by dentists. This role requires strong technical ability, manual dexterity, and a keen eye for detail to ensure each product meets precise aesthetic and functional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, shape, and finish crowns, bridges, dentures, inlays, veneers, and orthodontic appliances.
- Read and interpret dental prescriptions and models to determine design specifications.
- Utilize materials such as wax, acrylics, metal, and porcelain to fabricate restorations.
- Operate dental laboratory equipment, including articulators, casting machines, and CAD/CAM systems.
- Ensure proper color matching and contouring of dental prostheses.
- Inspect completed dental appliances for quality, accuracy, and patient comfort.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory workspace.
- Collaborate closely with dentists and other dental professionals to ensure satisfaction and functionality of all prosthetics.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Dental Laboratory Technology program (Diploma or Certificate).
- Certification (e.g., CDT – Certified Dental Technician) is an asset.
- Proven experience in a dental lab environment preferred.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Proficiency with dental lab tools and materials.
- Knowledge of dental anatomy and occlusion principles.
- Familiarity with digital dental design software (CAD/CAM) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Work Conditions
- Laboratory setting with exposure to dental materials, tools, and small machinery.
- May involve standing for extended periods and performing detailed tasks under magnification.
- Minimal patient interaction.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
