Job Summary

The IT Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware and software systems. This role ensures optimal performance, security and reliability of all IT services to support business operations. The IT Administrator will also provide technical support to end users and assist in implementing new technologies and systems.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration

  • Install, configure and maintain operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and applications.
  • Monitor and maintain servers, storage and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Manage user accounts, permissions and access controls through Active Directory or other identity management systems.

Network Management

  • Configure and maintain LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls and VPN connections.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues and ensure uptime and security.
  • Manage wireless networks and network security protocols.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures (firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection).
  • Conduct regular system and security audits, apply patches and updates.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection policies and standards.
  • Conduct regular staff training on email security and phishing awareness

Support & Maintenance

  • Provide technical support to employees for hardware, software and connectivity issues.
  • Manage IT asset inventory and perform hardware lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for maintenance and support.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

  • Implement and maintain data backup and recovery strategies.
  • Test and document disaster recovery procedures regularly.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes and IT assets.
  • Prepare reports on system performance, incidents and improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in IT administration, system or network management.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient with Windows Server, Linux and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, AWS, Azure).
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN).
  • Experience with virtualization and backup technologies.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and tools.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
